Let’s start with the competitive landscape of Flash Coffee, it gets 2nd Rank among 7 competitors. Flash Coffee raised $12.1M in its latest funding round, which was Series B round held on May 11, 2023.

Competitor Comparison of Flash Coffee: Flash coffee has developed very rapidly in the last 4 years compared to other competitors. With a rating of 4.6 out of 153 ratings on the App Store.

User Review:

Flash Coffee is good in terms of problem-solving and easy-to-use applications, people also know that Flash specializes in Arabica coffee at affordable prices.

Some of the bad reviews about Flash are related to downloading data and not being able to detect locations properly, options for delivery are problematic and information about discounts is unclear.

Unlike its competitor Kopi Kenangan, the good reviews about them focus on the very good coffee taste and Maxx Coffee which has an easy-to-use application. They also have some bad reviews regarding discounts, location, pickup hours, and OTP.

Structure of the product:

  1. Flash Coffee — The home page displays a few images so that the loading is quite fast, the layout is quite simple, making it easy for the user to see what features are available in this app. But using too many types of fonts on one page, it looks untidy. This app also hides the main navigation in the hamburger menu to make it look simpler, but making it more difficult for users to navigate the main features that Flash Coffee has. Unlike its competitors which show the main menu on the navbar

2. Kopi Kenangan — Structurally the Kopi Kenangan App offers the same thing, what is different is the location section and the CTA button to order. The interesting part of this App is the “Free 1 Cup” promo. In my opinion, this can make the user much more enthusiastic about working on it because it looks easy and only requires repetition, in contrast to the Flash Challenge which looks quite difficult with less attractive rewards.

3. Maxx Coffee — While Maxx Coffee focuses on coffee delivery even though it is the most expensive price. The navigation is clear and the general groupings are like home, promos, orders, and history.

Of the three apps, several similarities were found, such as the point of interest were promotional banners, then membership and delivery or pickup services. They are also quite the same in voice and tone UX writing which is Straight-Talking.

Pain Points:

How to find the product, how to find the nearest outlet for delivery or pickup, how to find attractive promo, and how to load data faster.

Define

  1. Goals — Clear navigation, highlight main services & benefits.
  2. Problem to Solve — The user can find the coffee menu easily & order it.

Ideate

  1. Design — I redesigned it by making the first thing users see after the promo banner is pickup or delivery from our nearest store. I also moved product recommendations for new users. Then show get 1 cup free until August 20, 2023 to make it more attractive. The main navigation menu has also been changed to home, membership, order, challenge, and profile to make it easier.

2. UX Metrics —After redesigning we can do A/B testing and measure things like; Task Success Rate, Bounce Rate, Conversion Rate & Customer Lifetime Value.

So happy to provide design solutions that have an impact on business 😋
